Hello, it’s
another beautiful day on planet earth, and we’re still talking about
expectations and disappointments. Some days back, I shared a recent experience
I had on this topic and I hope the reality of that story helps us as we deal
with this (for story, click here.) The fact that you’re a
Christian doesn’t exempt you from these feelings of anger and hurt from
disappointments (except we don’t want to be sincere with ourselves; which we
often do anyway. For goodness sake, God knows our frame and He remembers that
we are dust!).
1.
We’re telling God this- “well, I don’t entirely
depend on you. I trust you for the small stuff or (big stuff), but let me handle
this aspect by myself. You seem so far away.” Yes. You don’t say it out loud,
but your actions do
2.
We’re telling God we aren’t contented with what
we’ve got! Someone might say, that we’re supposed to have everything in Christ.
True. But when your desires or ambition begins to birth an ungodly fruit, then
you should check your spirit. It could be a high level of discontentment.
Remember the scriptures say that godliness with contentment is great gain.
3.
We’re telling God that everything is lawful and
expedient and we don’t want to put our flesh under... Ouch! Right?!
The list goes on and on…
What to do? Let’s see
- We could start by always telling ourselves that not everything we desire is expedient for us to have, so when you don't get somethings from humans as you expect, you can easily shake off the hurt (it's almost impossible never to get hurt). If you don't talk to yourself, you birth strife and some other dirty stuff that take you far from God.
- Although, God uses man to bless us (cos He sure won't come down Himself), we should never look to man for everything we call a NEED. Philippians 4:19 didn't say that man would supply our needs, right? Tell Him your needs and allow Him provide it for you the best way you deserve it. Let's not try to help God by moving close to potential helpers (except of course He directs you specifically to do that). Either ways, He takes all the glory. Let go off the control button, you'll only get hurt the more. (See Matt 6:29-34).
-Cut men some slack: Okay, so ,sometimes we could slide back into being in control as though we own the world, and assuredly, we get hurt. Well, I think if we make excuses for other humans who are prone to failing us all the time, we'd save ourselves a great deal of hurt. Think of it too, don't we hurt God all the time? He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust, right? Right?!
From me to you: Look to God as your source and "sustainer" . It's okay to wants some stuff, and it's okay to think we have them all when ask our father, but when the desire for those things take your focus off God and to man, and makes you begin to resent your fellow man, then you need to press the brake! There are things God would readily not give us especially when we do not ask according to His will... #DelonixCares
